What the app stores

Chanter Book is a practice journal for pipers. Everything you add — tunes, band sets, practice sessions, drill ratings, band days, checklists and settings — is written only to a local database and the app's own folder on your device. None of it is sent anywhere. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

Camera and photo library

If you choose to attach a photo of a score sheet to a tune, the app can open your device's camera or its photo picker. The picker only ever gives the app the single photo you choose — it has no other access to your library. Any photo you attach is stored locally with the rest of your tune data and is never uploaded.

Notifications

Chanter Book can send you a local reminder for daily practice or for an upcoming band day, if you turn one of these on in Settings. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. No notification service or third party is involved, and nothing about your schedule leaves your device.

Bundled guides

The illustrated movement guides in the Movements tab are built into the app and open in an in-app viewer. They work fully offline and load no content from the internet.

Network use

The app makes no network requests of its own. One line of text, in a movement guide, links out to your pipe band association's public website; it opens in Safari only if you tap it and confirm that you want to leave the app.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

Chanter Book contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking software of any kind, and it does not share data with any third party because it collects none to share.

Children's privacy

Chanter Book is a practice tool for pipers and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no data at all, no personal information is collected from users of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new "last updated" date.
